QIDI Tech PA12-CF Carbon Fibre Reinforced Nylon Filament – 1.75mm

Exceptional Mechanical Strength & Durability for Engineering-Grade 3D Printing

Upgrade your 3D printing with QIDI Tech PA12-CF — a premium carbon fibre reinforced nylon filament combining 85% PA12 nylon with 15% carbon fibre for superior rigidity, impact resistance, and wear performance. This advanced composite material delivers outstanding mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability, making it an excellent choice for engineering parts, functional prototypes, and high-performance end-use projects.

With a tensile strength of 77 MPa, bending strength of 114 MPa, and a flexural modulus of 3.9 GPa, PA12-CF offers a compelling balance of stiffness and toughness. Its self-lubricating properties and low coefficient of friction make it uniquely suited for gears, bearings, and moving mechanical parts where durability under friction is essential.

Key Benefits

Exceptional Mechanical Strength & Rigidity 15% carbon fibre reinforcement delivers superior tensile strength (77 MPa), bending strength (114 MPa), and a flexural modulus of nearly 3.9 GPa. Designed for load-bearing, mechanical, and structural applications where parts must perform under sustained stress.

Outstanding Dimensional Stability Carbon fibre reinforcement minimises warping and shrinkage, offering high precision and consistency for stable, successful prints. Excellent layer adhesion and a smooth surface finish reduce the need for post-processing.

Self-Lubricating & Wear-Resistant PA12-CF has a naturally low coefficient of friction with self-lubricating properties, making it ideal for gears, bearings, bushings, and sliding components in industrial and mechanical applications with high wear requirements.

Toughness & Vibration Resistance Unlike many carbon fibre filaments, PA12-CF maintains notable toughness (10 KJ/m² impact strength) and vibration damping, helping prints retain shape and function even in challenging dynamic environments.

Low Moisture Sensitivity PA12 absorbs significantly less moisture than PA6-based nylons, maintaining its mechanical strength and thermal properties more reliably in humid conditions. This ensures more consistent long-term performance and less sensitivity during storage and printing.

Chemical & Temperature Resistance Excellent resistance to oils, fuels, chemicals, and elevated temperatures ensures long-lasting durability in demanding industrial, automotive, and mechanical environments.

Smart Fibre Reinforced Technology QIDI's proprietary Smart Fibre Reinforced Technology evenly disperses carbon fibres throughout the PA12 matrix, creating a mesh skeleton structure that releases internal stress during printing. The result is improved mechanical properties, enhanced heat resistance, and excellent dimensional stability without warping.

Tangle-Free Spool & Premium Packaging. Each 1 kg spool is precision-wound to prevent tangling and ensure smooth extrusion. Vacuum-sealed aluminium foil packaging provides industry-leading moisture protection with a water vapour transmission rate of just 0.014%, compared to 4.76% for standard sealed packaging.

Printer Requirements

  • All-metal hotend capable of reaching 280–300°C
  • Hardened steel or ruby nozzle required — carbon fibre is abrasive and will rapidly wear brass and copper-plated nozzles
  • An enclosed printer is required for stable temperature control and best dimensional accuracy
  • 0.4 mm or 0.6 mm nozzle recommended — 0.2 mm nozzles are not compatible (clogging risk)
  • Direct-drive extruder recommended for reliable feeding

Printing & Storage Tips

  • Drying (required): Dry at 80–100°C for at least 8 hours in a blast drying oven before printing. If using a printer heat bed for drying, allow at least 10 hours at 90°C
  • During printing: Keep filament in a dry box with below 15% RH for best results
  • Annealing (optional): Anneal printed parts at 80–100°C for 4–6 hours and cool naturally to room temperature for improved strength
  • Storage: Return unused filament to the original vacuum aluminium foil bag and seal immediately. Properly sealed filament should remain dry for 1–2 weeks. For longer storage, use an airtight container with effective desiccant.
  • Ventilation: Print in a well-ventilated area for optimal results and safety
  • Nozzle cleaning: Before first use and if clogging occurs, clean the nozzle interior with an Allen key and needle at 280°C to ensure smooth extrusion

Ideal Applications

  • Engineering parts and functional prototypes
  • Industrial fixtures, jigs, and tooling
  • Gears, bearings, bushings, and wear-resistant moving parts
  • Automotive components and brackets
  • Electrical and electronic enclosures
  • Structural frames, brackets, and housings
  • Drone, RC, and robotics components
  • Lightweight parts replacing metal in non-critical applications

Whether you're a professional engineer producing precision functional parts or an advanced maker tackling demanding mechanical projects, QIDI Tech PA12-CF delivers the perfect balance of strength, precision, and reliability from the convenience of your desktop FDM 3D printer.
