SUNLU ABS 3D Printer Filament – 1kg

Strong, Durable Filament for Functional Parts & Engineering Applications

SUNLU ABS Filament is a high-performance thermoplastic engineered for strength, toughness, and heat resistance. ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) has long been a favourite material for functional prototypes, mechanical components, and end-use parts thanks to its excellent impact resistance and ability to withstand higher temperatures than standard PLA.

Offering a balance of durability, machinability, and affordability, SUNLU ABS is ideal for makers, engineers, and professionals seeking reliable performance for demanding applications.

Excellent Mechanical Strength

ABS is renowned for its toughness and impact resistance, making it well-suited for parts that experience repeated use, mechanical stress, or occasional impacts. Finished prints offer greater durability than standard PLA and are less prone to cracking or brittle failure.

Enhanced Heat Resistance

Compared to PLA, ABS maintains its structural integrity at significantly higher temperatures, making it suitable for automotive, workshop, and industrial applications where parts may be exposed to elevated temperatures.

Ideal for Functional Parts

The combination of strength, durability, and machinability makes ABS an excellent choice for prototypes, brackets, housings, fixtures, and other practical components. ABS parts can also be drilled, sanded, painted, and post-processed with ease.

Reliable Layer Adhesion

SUNLU ABS delivers strong layer bonding and consistent extrusion, helping produce durable, structurally sound prints with excellent mechanical performance when printed using recommended settings.

Smooth Surface Finish

ABS naturally produces attractive parts with a clean, professional appearance. It can also be acetone-smoothed for an even smoother finish, making it popular for presentation models and cosmetic components.

Cost-Effective Engineering Material

Offering a strong balance between performance and affordability, ABS remains one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics for both hobbyist and professional applications.

Technical Specifications

  • Material: ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
  • Diameter: 1.75 mm ± 0.02 mm
  • Weight: 1 kg spool
  • Density: ~1.04 g/cm³
  • Tensile Strength: ~43 MPa
  • Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): ~85°C
  • Impact Resistance: Excellent
  • Shrinkage Resistance: Moderate
  • Surface Finish: Smooth, semi-gloss appearance
  • Spool: Vacuum-sealed with desiccant

Recommended Print Settings & Tips

  • Nozzle Temperature: 240°C – 270°C
  • Bed Temperature: 80°C – 100°C
  • Print Speed: 50 – 100 mm/s
  • Cooling Fan: Low or Off
  • Enclosure: Strongly Recommended
  • Drying Temperature: 70°C for 4–6 hours if moisture is absorbed
  • Build Surface: PEI, textured PEI, ABS slurry, Magigoo ABS, or similar adhesion aids

To minimise warping and maximise layer adhesion, print ABS in an enclosed printer or a draft-free environment. Larger parts benefit significantly from a heated build chamber and strong bed adhesion.

Ideal Applications

  • Functional prototypes
  • Mechanical components
  • Automotive interior parts
  • Electronic housings and enclosures
  • Jigs, fixtures, and tooling
  • RC, drone, and robotics components
  • Workshop and industrial accessories
  • Parts requiring heat resistance and durability

Built for Strength and Everyday Engineering

SUNLU ABS Filament remains one of the most trusted materials for functional 3D printing. Combining toughness, heat resistance, machinability, and affordability, it is an excellent choice for users who need durable parts capable of handling real-world use beyond the limitations of standard PLA.
